The aim of the capacity building review was to provide an opportunity for the DFIs to examine the progress in capacity building within the Network and the SADC region, and to develop a roadmap to enhance provision of high quality, relevant and cost effective capacity building interventions, and to promote cooperation amongst the DFIs in this respect.


Emotional Intelligence was aimed at capacitating staff with skills to enable them define and understand
the concepts and principles of Personal Master as well as gaining deeper insights into how they impact others around them and how to influence a community of people towards collaboration and mutual understanding to achieve personal as well as institutional goals and objectives through Authentic Leadership.


Twenty-five (25) participants from twenty-four (24) DFIs attended the programme.

 

Board Induction for Botswana Unifed Revenue Services

17th November 2016, Gaborone, Botswana

The focus of the one-day programme was best corporate governance practices, with special emphasis on governance in the public sector, and determinants of corporate governance models encompassing legislation, conventions and rules based on Botswana laws. The workshop was preceded by a management briefing to the new Board on the mandate, structure and operations of the institution.


Twenty-three (23) participants, all from the Botswana Unified Revenue Services attended the workshop.

 

Debt Management, Workout and Restructuring

25th - 27th October 2016, Gaborone, Botswana

The programme on Debt Management, Workouts and Restructuring was undertaken for the Citizen
Entrepreneurial Development Agency.


The training focused on fundamentals required in credit relationship management, managing problem
loans and post investment and strategies that will minimise their occurrence, optimise recovery of
bad loans and nurture redeemable ones to good standing.


Twenty-five (25) participants, all from the Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency attended the
programme.

 

Change Management

19th - 21st October 2016, Gaborone, Botswana

Change is constant in numerous areas of an institution. Placing people at the core of change thinking is a
fundamental concept of change management.


The purpose of the programme was to ensure that delegates are well equipped in dealing with changes
that affect the way they perform daily tasks and a smooth transition when change occurs in any scenario.


The programme was attended by fourteen (14) participants from six (6) DFIs.

 

Negotiation Skills

17th - 18th November 2016, Gaborone, Botswana

The objective was to enable participants to develop a unifying and generally applicable negotiation methodology that is applicable in the investment and infrastructure development space.


The programme cultivated the knowledge and skills that are necessary to negotiate, create, plan and assess investment transactions. It was also designed to develop both the delegates’ theoretical judgment and practical reasoning in negotiation
