Thrilled to share that Mr. Nixon Marumoloa, the Chief Executive Officer of Botswana Savings Bank (BSB), engaged in a productive discussion with Mr. Zwelibanzi Sapula, the Chief Executive Officer of the SADC Development Finance Resource Centre (SADC-DFRC) yesterday on the 19th November 2024. During this meeting, they examined the progress achieved by Botswana Savings Bank as a statutory bank, which currently operates eleven branches across the nation. Furthermore, the role of Botswana Savings Bank within the SADC-DFRC and the SADC Development Finance Institution Network was highlighted.

 

The dialogue also illuminated potential collaborative efforts between BSB and SADC-DFRC aimed at addressing and fulfilling the needs of Development Finance Institutions (DFIs). Key topics included the growth challenges faced by DFIs within the SADC region, the exchange of learning experiences among DFIs, the accessibility of financial services, and the establishment of connections with other banks in the region.

 

On a closing note, the primary points of emphasis include regional integration, the provision of support for DFIs, and assistance targeted at individuals in the community. Future discussions will be conducted to explore optimal strategies for maximizing the benefits to the SADC region resulting from the collaborative efforts of the BSB, SADC-DFRC, and the DFI network.
