Zwelibanzi Sapula is a distinguished leader in development finance and infrastructure, appointed as CEO of the SADC-DFRC in November 2024. With more than 20 years of experience, he has dedicated his career to designing and implementing programmes that promote inclusive growth, sustainable development, and deeper regional integration across Africa.

As CEO, Mr. Sapula drives the SADC-DFRC's mandate to strengthen Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) in the region, fostering collaboration, capacity building, and innovative financing solutions aligned with SADC's objectives for economic progress.
His expertise spans strategic project funding, venture capital, and executive leadership in empowerment and infrastructure initiatives. He is a passionate advocate for purpose-driven leadership and regularly engages stakeholders through high-level forums, courtesy calls with regional authorities, and inspirational sessions for emerging professionals as such he transitioned to management from NCR

Educational Background

Zwelibanzi Sapula earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Cape Town (2005–2006), building on his foundational Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pretoria (1997–2000).

This strategic progression from rigorous technical training in engineering to advanced business leadership has provided him with the ideal toolkit for over 20 years of impactful work in development finance and infrastructure, enabling him to design and execute programmes that foster inclusive growth and regional integration across Africa.
