THESE TERMS OF SERVICE (‘TERMS’) GOVERN YOUR ACCESS TO AND USE OF THE SADC-DFRC PLATFORM, INCLUDING THE WEBSITE, ONLINE LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, CHATBOT, MOBILE APPLICATIONS, AND ALL RELATED SERVICES. BY ACCESSING OR USING THE PLATFORM, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS, DO NOT USE THE PLATFORM.
In these Terms, unless the context requires otherwise, the following definitions apply:
• ‘SADC-DFRC’, ‘we’, ‘us’, or ‘our’ means the Southern African Development Community Development Finance Resource Centre, a regional institution with its principal office at Plot 54352 West Avenue, Zambezi Towers, Tower A, 7th Floor South Wing, Gaborone,
Botswana;
• ‘Platform’ means the SADC-DFRC website (https://sadc-dfrc.org) collectively, online learning management system (LMS), chatbot, mobile applications, and any other digital services, tools, or technologies provided by SADC-DFRC;
• ‘Services’ means all educational content, courses, programs, webinars, workshops, resources, tools, chatbot assistance, assessments, certificates, and other services provided through the Platform;
• ‘User’, ‘you’, or ‘your’ means any individual or entity that accesses or uses the Platform or Services in any capacity;
• ‘Account’ means the user account created by you to access certain features of the Platform;
• ‘Content’ means all information, data, text, software, music, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages, course materials, assessments, and other materials available on or through the Platform;
• ‘User Content’ means any Content that you submit, upload, post, or make available through the Platform, including forum posts, comments, assignments, and chatbot interactions;
• ‘SADC-DFRC Content’ means all Content provided by SADC-DFRC, including course materials, educational resources, assessments, and chatbot responses;
• ‘Course’ means any educational program, training module, webinar, workshop, or learning opportunity offered through the Platform;
• ‘Chatbot’ means the artificial intelligence-powered conversational assistant available on the Platform;
• ‘LMS’ means the learning management system, also referred to as the online learning centre;
• ‘Certificate’ means a digital or physical credential issued by SADC-DFRC upon successful completion of a Course or program;
‘Intellectual Property’ means all patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets,
know-how, and other intellectual property rights;
• ‘Verbosec’ means SADC-DFRC’s designated technology partner, providing hosting and technology services;
• ‘Privacy Policy’ means SADC-DFRC’s privacy policy available here.
2.1 By accessing, browsing, or using the Platform or Services in any manner, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must immediately cease using the Platform.
2.2 You represent and warrant that:
• You are at least 18 years of age or have obtained parental/guardian consent;
• You have legal capacity and authority to enter into these Terms;
• If using on behalf of an organization, you have the authority to bind that organization;
• All information you provide is accurate, current, and complete;
• You will comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
2.3 These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and SADC-DFRC. Continued use after changes to these Terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
The Platform consists of the following integrated components:
• Website: Main website at https://sadc-dfrc.org providing information about programs, research, events, and resources;
• Learning Management System (LMS): Online learning centre providing courses, training programs, assessments, progress tracking, and certificate issuance;
• Chatbot: AI-powered conversational assistant providing automated responses, navigation assistance, and general support;
• User Accounts and Profiles: Personalized accounts for tracking progress, managing enrollments, and storing credentials;
• Communication Tools: Discussion forums, messaging, email notifications;
• Mobile Applications: Mobile apps providing Platform access on mobile devices (where available);
• Additional Tools: Research databases, resource libraries, event registration systems.
SADC-DFRC provides:
• Online courses and training programs in development finance;
• Webinars, workshops, and virtual events;
• Educational content (videos, readings, case studies, multimedia);
• Assessments, quizzes, assignments, and evaluations;
• Certificates and credentials upon course completion;
• Research resources, publications, and knowledge repositories;
• Professional networking and collaboration opportunities;
• Technical support and customer service.
We strive to provide continuous access to the Platform but do not guarantee that the Platform will be available at all times or that access will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free. The Platform may be unavailable due to:
• Scheduled maintenance and updates;
• Technical difficulties or system failures;
• Internet connectivity issues;• Actions by third-party service providers;
• Force majeure events or circumstances beyond our control.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Platform at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation.
3.4 Chatbot Services and Limitations
The chatbot is an AI-powered automated system. You acknowledge and agree that:
• Chatbot responses are generated by AI and may contain errors, inaccuracies, or incomplete information;
• The chatbot is not a substitute for professional advice from qualified human advisors;
• Chatbot interactions are logged and may be used to improve services;
• You should not rely solely on chatbot responses for important decisions;
• You should not share sensitive personal, financial, or confidential information with the chatbot;
• We do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or reliability of chatbot responses;
• For critical matters, contact human staff directly at info@sadc-dfrc.org.
To access certain Platform features, you must create an Account. When creating an Account, you must:
• Provide accurate, current, and complete information;
• Maintain and promptly update Account information;
• Create a secure password meeting our security requirements;
• Provide truthful information and not impersonate any person or entity;
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your Account.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your Account credentials.
You agree to:
• Keep your password secure and confidential;
• Do not share Account credentials with any third party;
• Do not allow third-party access to your Account;
• Immediately notify us at info@sadc-dfrc.org of any unauthorized access;
• Take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised access.
You are solely responsible for all activities under your Account, whether or not authorised by you. We shall not be liable for any loss arising from failure to protect Account credentials.
You may only create one Account per person. You may not:
• Create multiple Accounts for the same individual;
• Create an Account using false or misleading information;
• Create an Account for anyone other than yourself without permission;
• Transfer, sell, or provide access to your Account to third parties;
• Create an Account if previously banned or suspended.
You may terminate your Account at any time by contacting info@sadc-dfrc.org or through Account settings. Upon termination:
• You will lose access to your Account and Services;
• Progress in incomplete Courses may be lost;
• Earned Certificates remain valid but may not be accessible through the Platform;
• No refunds for paid Courses unless specified in Section 11;
• Personal information processed per Privacy Policy and retention obligations.
You agree to use the Platform only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree to:
• Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and these Terms;
• Use Platform for legitimate educational and professional purposes;
• Respect intellectual property rights of SADC-DFRC and third parties;
• Treat other users, instructors, and staff with respect and professionalism;
• Maintain academic integrity in all Course activities;
• Provide honest feedback and communications;
• Report security vulnerabilities or violations to info@sadc-dfrc.org.
You expressly agree NOT to:
Academic Misconduct:
• Cheat, plagiarise, or engage in academic dishonesty;
• Share assessment answers or collaborate without permission;
• Use unauthorised materials during assessments;
• Falsify credentials, certificates, or academic records;
Unauthorised Access and Security:
• Access accounts, systems, or data not intended for you;
• Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features;
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) without authorisation;
• Probe, scan, or test Platform vulnerabilities;
• Breach security or authentication measures;
Intellectual Property Violations:
• Copy, reproduce, distribute, or modify SADC-DFRC Content without authorisation;
• Download Course materials for commercial purposes or redistribution;
• Remove copyright notices, trademarks, or proprietary rights notices;• Use SADC-DFRC trademarks or branding without written permission;
Harmful or Disruptive Conduct:
• Upload, transmit, or distribute viruses, malware, or malicious code;
• Interfere with, disrupt, or impose unreasonable burdens on Platform or servers;
• Launch denial-of-service attacks;
• Decompile, reverse engineer, or disassemble Platform software;
Prohibited Content:
• Post illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, or obscene content;
• Share content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights;
• Post spam, advertising, or unsolicited communications;
• Share false, misleading, or deceptive information;
• Engage in hate speech, discrimination, or harassment based on protected
characteristics;
Misuse and Fraud:
• Use Platform for fraudulent, illegal, or unauthorised purposes;
• Impersonate SADC-DFRC staff, instructors, or other users;
• Misrepresent affiliation with any organisation;
• Engage in fraud or deception;
• Sell, transfer, or sublicense Platform access without authorisation.
If you violate these Terms, we reserve the right to:
• Issue warnings or require corrective action;
• Temporarily suspend or permanently terminate your Account;
• Remove or disable access to violating Content;
• Revoke Certificates obtained through violations;
• Refuse to provide Certificates or Services;
• Report violations to law enforcement or regulatory authorities;
• Take legal action to enforce Terms or recover damages;
• Take other action deemed appropriate to protect the Platform and users.
This Acceptable Use Policy supplements Section 5 and provides additional detail on the appropriate use of the Platform.
The Platform is designed for educational and professional development purposes. This policy defines acceptable and unacceptable uses to ensure a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment for all users.
Educational Integrity:
• Complete your own work honestly and independently unless collaboration is explicitly permitted;
• Properly cite and attribute sources in all submissions;
• Do not submit work created by others as your own;
• Respect assessment rules and time limits;
• Report suspected academic misconduct to info@sadc-dfrc.org.
Respectful Communication:
• Engage in constructive, professional discourse in forums and discussions;
• Respect diverse viewpoints and cultural perspectives;
• Avoid inflammatory, offensive, or disrespectful language;
• Do not harass, bully, intimidate, or threaten other users;
• Maintain confidentiality of personal information shared by others.
Content Guidelines:
• Share only appropriate, relevant content in forums and discussions;
• Do not post commercial advertisements or spam;
• Respect copyright and intellectual property when sharing external materials;
• Do not share inappropriate images, videos, or links;
• Keep discussions on-topic and relevant to course content.
Technical Responsibility:• Use Platform resources efficiently and considerately;
• Do not attempt to access restricted areas or other users’ accounts;
• Do not upload excessively large files that may strain system resources;
• Report technical issues and bugs to support, do not exploit them;
• Use only approved tools and software with the Platform.
6.3 Prohibited Uses
In addition to prohibitions in Section 5, the following uses are expressly prohibited:
• Using the Platform to facilitate, promote, or engage in illegal activities;
• Collecting or harvesting personal information of other users without consent;
• Creating fake accounts or misrepresenting your identity;
• Sharing account credentials or allowing unauthorised account access;
• Circumventing technological protection measures or access controls;
• Using the Platform for political campaigning or lobbying without authorisation;
• Posting content that violates export control or sanctions laws;
• Using chatbots or automated systems to extract or compile data without permission.
If you become aware of conduct that violates this Acceptable Use Policy, please report it immediately to info@sadc-dfrc.org with details of the violation. We investigate all reports and take appropriate action. Reports are treated confidentially to the extent possible.
Violations of this policy may result in temporary or permanent suspension of Platform access, removal of content, revocation of certificates, legal action, or other consequences as described in Section 5.3. Severity of consequences depends on the nature and frequency of violations.
SADC-DFRC is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. This policy applies to all Courses, assessments, and educational activities on the Platform.
Academic integrity is the foundation of legitimate educational achievement. All users are expected to:
• Complete all academic work honestly and ethically;
• Submit original work that represents your own understanding and effort;
• Properly acknowledge and cite all sources and collaborators;
• Follow all rules and guidelines for assessments and assignments;
• Respect the intellectual contributions of others;
• Maintain trust in the value and validity of educational credentials.
The following constitute academic misconduct:
Plagiarism:
• Using another person’s ideas, words, data, or work without proper attribution;
• Copying text from books, articles, websites, or other sources without quotation marks and citation;
• Paraphrasing someone else’s work without acknowledgment;
• Submitting purchased, borrowed, or downloaded papers or assignments as your own;
• Self-plagiarism: submitting your own previously submitted work without authorization.
Cheating:
• Using unauthorized materials, notes, devices, or assistance during assessments;
• Copying from another student or allowing another student to copy from you;
• Obtaining or distributing assessment questions or answers before or during an assessment;
• Taking an assessment on behalf of another person or having someone take an assessment for you;
• Using multiple devices or browsers to gain unfair advantage in assessments;• Exploiting technical glitches or system vulnerabilities to gain assessment advantages.
Fabrication and Falsification:
• Inventing or falsifying data, sources, citations, or research results;
• Misrepresenting credentials, qualifications, or affiliations;
• Altering or forging certificates, transcripts, or academic records;
• Submitting false documentation for enrollment, registration, or certification.
Unauthorized Collaboration:
• Working with others on individual assignments when collaboration is not permitted;
• Sharing answers or solutions to assessments;
• Participating in unauthorized study groups for take-home exams;
• Receiving unauthorized assistance from tutors, friends, or online services.
Multiple Submissions:
• Submitting the same work for credit in multiple courses without explicit permission;
• Reusing substantial portions of previous work without authorization and acknowledgment.
Unauthorized Assistance or Facilitation:
• Providing answers or assistance to others when not permitted;
• Sharing assessment content or materials with others;
• Helping others commit academic misconduct;
• Selling, trading, or distributing course materials or assessment answers.
Collaboration is encouraged in certain contexts and prohibited in others. Always:
• Read and follow specific collaboration guidelines provided for each assignment or assessment;
• When in doubt, ask the instructor or course facilitator before collaborating;
• Acknowledge all collaborators and assistance received in your submissions;
• Ensure your final submitted work represents your own understanding and expression. Generally permitted: Discussion of concepts, study groups for preparation, peer review when authorized, group projects with assigned collaboration.
Generally prohibited: Sharing answers to individual assignments, taking assessments together unless explicitly group assessments, dividing work on individual assignments, and copying from others.
All sources must be properly cited. Follow these guidelines:
• Use the citation style specified in course instructions (APA, Harvard, Chicago, etc.);
• Cite all direct quotations, paraphrased content, data, images, and ideas from sources;
• Include both in-text citations and a reference list/bibliography;
• Cite online sources including websites, articles, videos, and forums;
• When using AI-generated content (chatbot or other AI tools), disclose and cite
appropriately as specified;
• Acknowledge assistance from tutors, colleagues, or consultants;
• When unsure about citation requirements, consult course materials or ask instructors.
The use of artificial intelligence tools, including the SADC-DFRC chatbot and external AI
services (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.), are subject to the following rules:
• Check course-specific policies on AI tool usage – some courses may prohibit, restrict, or encourage AI use;
• When AI tools are permitted, you must: Disclose AI tool usage in your submission;
Verify the accuracy of AI-generated content; Ensure you understand and can explain the content; Use AI as a learning aid, not a substitute for learning; Properly cite AI-generated content;
• When AI tools are prohibited: Do not use them for assignments, assessments, or projects; Complete all work independently using only approved resources;
• The SADC-DFRC chatbot may generally be used for: Platform navigation and support;
General information about courses; Clarification of instructions; Technical assistance;
• The chatbot should NOT be used to: Complete assignments or assessments; Generate answers for submissions; Bypass learning objectives;
• Violation of AI usage policies constitutes academic misconduct.
When academic misconduct is suspected:
1. Detection: Suspected misconduct may be identified through plagiarism detection software, instructor review, peer reports, assessment monitoring, or pattern analysis;
2. Initial Review: Course instructor or academic integrity officer reviews the evidence and determines if there is reasonable cause to believe misconduct occurred;
3. Notification: Student is notified in writing of the allegation and evidence;
4. Opportunity to Respond: Student has right to provide explanation, evidence, and context within specified timeframe (typically 7-14 days);
5. Determination: Review of all evidence and student response; Determination of whether violation occurred; Decision on appropriate sanctions;
6. Notification of Outcome: Student notified of decision and any sanctions in writing;
7. Appeal: Student may appeal the decision within the specified timeframe to the designated appeal body.
Sanctions for academic integrity violations may include one or more of the following, depending on severity and prior violations: First or Minor Violations:
• Written warning and educational counseling;
• Requirement to redo assignment with reduced grade;
• Zero grade on the specific assignment or assessment;
• Requirement to complete academic integrity tutorial or course.
Moderate Violations or Repeat Offenses:
• Failure (F or 0) in the course;
• Suspension from Platform for specified period;
• Notation on academic record;
• Prohibition from future course enrollment for specified period.
Severe Violations or Multiple Offenses:
• Permanent expulsion from Platform and all SADC-DFRC programs;
• Revocation of previously awarded certificates and credentials;
• Notification to employers, institutions, or professional bodies;
• Legal action for fraud, identity theft, or other criminal conduct;
• Referral to law enforcement where applicable.
Students found to have violated academic integrity may appeal the decision:
• Grounds for Appeal: Procedural error; New evidence not available during original review; Disproportionate sanction; Bias or conflict of interest in original decision;
• Appeal Submission: Written appeal must be submitted to info@sadc-dfrc.org within 14 days of receiving notification of decision;
• Appeal Review: Independent review committee evaluates appeal; May request additional information; May uphold, modify, or reverse original decision;
• Final Decision: Appeal decision is final and not subject to further appeal within SADC-DFRC.
SADC-DFRC maintains records of academic integrity violations, including allegations, investigations, findings, and sanctions. Records are retained in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws. Repeated violations across courses are tracked and may result in escalated sanctions.
All SADC-DFRC Content, including course materials, educational resources, text, graphics, logos, images, videos, audio, software, code, chatbot responses, LMS functionality, and the Platform itself, is owned by or licensed to SADC-DFRC and is protected by copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
SADC-DFRC and our licensors retain all rights, title, and interest in SADC-DFRC Content.
These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, SADC-DFRC grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to:
• Access and use the Platform for personal, non-commercial, educational purposes;
• View and download Course materials solely for personal learning and reference;
• Print limited copies of Course materials for personal educational use.
This license does NOT permit you to:
• Use SADC-DFRC Content for commercial purposes;
• Reproduce, distribute, publicly display, or create derivative works without authorization;
• Sell, sublicense, or transfer Course materials to third parties;
• Remove copyright or proprietary notices;
• Use automated systems to download or extract Content;
• Post Course materials on public websites or file-sharing platforms.
By submitting User Content to the Platform (including forum posts, assignments, comments, feedback, chatbot conversations), you grant SADC-DFRC a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform the User Content in connection with the Platform and SADC-DFRC’s business, including for promotional, educational, research, and improvement purposes.
You represent and warrant that you own or have necessary rights to grant this license and that your User Content does not violate any third-party rights or applicable laws.
‘SADC-DFRC,’ ‘Southern African Development Community Development Finance Resource Centre,’ and related logos and trademarks are the property of SADC-DFRC. You may not use these trademarks without our prior written permission.
If you believe Content on the Platform infringes your copyright, please contact info@sadc-dfrc.org with:
• Identification of the copyrighted work;
• Identification of the infringing material and its location on the Platform;
• Your contact information (name, address, phone, email);
• A statement of good faith belief that the use is unauthorized;
• A statement that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of copyright owner;
• Your physical or electronic signature. We will investigate valid notices and may remove allegedly infringing content. Repeat copyright infringers may have their Accounts terminated.
To enroll in a Course, you must:
• Have an active Account in good standing;
• Meet any prerequisite requirements specified for the Course;
• Complete the enrollment process through the LMS;
• Pay any applicable fees (for paid Courses);
• Accept any Course-specific terms or requirements;
• Provide any required information (professional background, organization affiliation, etc.).
Enrollment is not complete until confirmed by SADC-DFRC. We reserve the right to deny enrollment to any user for any reason, including capacity limitations, eligibility requirements, or prior misconduct.
Once enrolled, you will receive access to Course materials according to the following terms:
• Access Period: Course access typically begins on the Course start date and continues for the specified duration (e.g., 4 weeks, 12 weeks, self-paced with 6-month access);
• Self-Paced Courses: Access granted upon enrollment for a specified period; you may complete at your own pace within the access window;
• Instructor-Led Courses: Access begins on start date; follows specific schedule with deadlines; live sessions held at scheduled times;
• Access Expiration: After the access period expires, you may lose access to Course materials unless lifetime access is specified;
• Extended Access: Some Courses may offer extended or lifetime access; specified in Course description;
• Certificate Holders: May retain access to certain Course materials after completion, as specified.
We reserve the right to modify access periods or remove Course materials at any time with reasonable notice.
The LMS automatically tracks your Course progress, including:• Lessons and modules completed;
• Time spent on Course activities;
• Assessment scores and grades;
• Assignment submissions;
• Participation in discussions and forums;
• Overall completion percentage.
You are responsible for monitoring your own progress and meeting deadlines. We may send
reminder notifications but are not obligated to do so.
To successfully complete a Course and qualify for a Certificate, you must:
• Complete all required lessons, modules, and activities;
• Submit all required assignments by specified deadlines;
• Achieve minimum passing grades on assessments (typically 70% or as specified);
• Participate in required discussions or group activities;
• Complete any final project or capstone assignment;
• Meet attendance requirements for live sessions (if applicable);
• Complete all requirements within the specified timeframe;
• Maintain compliance with Academic Integrity Policy (Section 7);
• Complete Course evaluation/feedback (may be required).
Specific completion requirements vary by Course and are detailed in the Course syllabus or description. Meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee Certificate issuance if violations of Terms or the Academic Integrity Policy occurred.
SADC-DFRC reserves the right to:
• Modify Course content, schedule, instructors, or format with reasonable notice;
• Cancel or postpone Courses due to insufficient enrollment, instructor unavailability, or other reasons;
• Combine or split Course sections;
• Update or replace Course materials to reflect current information;
• Change assessment methods or grading criteria (with notice and fairness to enrolled students).If we cancel a Course:
• Enrolled students will be notified as soon as reasonably possible;
• Full refund provided for paid Courses (or option to transfer to alternative Course);
• No refund for time or effort invested by students;
• We are not liable for any consequential damages from cancellation.
You may withdraw from a Course at any time, subject to the following:
Before Course Start Date:
• Full refund if withdrawal made before Course starts (for paid Courses);
• No penalties or notation on record;
• Easy withdrawal through LMS or by contacting info@sadc-dfrc.org.
Within First 2 Weeks (or 14 Days) After Course Start:
• Partial refund may be available (see Section 11.5);
• Course marked as ‘Withdrawn’ on your record;
• Access to Course materials terminated upon withdrawal.
After 2 Weeks (or 14 Days):
• No refund for paid Courses;
• Course marked as ‘Withdrawn’ or ‘Incomplete’ on record;
• You may re-enroll in future offering at full price;
• Previous Course progress not transferred to new enrollment.
To withdraw, contact info@sadc-dfrc.org with your Course name, enrollment date, and reason
for withdrawal.
If you do not complete a Course within the specified timeframe:
• Course marked as ‘Incomplete’ on your record;
• No Certificate issued;
• Access to Course materials expires per Section 9.2;• You may re-enroll in future offering (fees may apply);
• Some Courses may offer extension options for additional fee;
• Partial credit or transfer of completed work typically not available.
To be eligible for a Certificate, you must:
• Successfully complete all Course requirements per Section 9.4;
• Achieve minimum passing grade (typically 70% or as specified);
• Complete Course within specified timeframe;
• Maintain compliance with all Terms, including Academic Integrity Policy;
• Have an account in good standing with no pending violations or disciplinary actions;
• Provide accurate personal information for Certificate issuance;
• Complete any required Course evaluation or feedback forms;
• Pay all applicable fees (if Course is paid).
Certificate eligibility is at SADC-DFRC’s sole discretion. We may deny Certificates for violations of these Terms, even if completion requirements were technically met.
Upon successful Course completion:
• Automatic Review: LMS automatically checks completion requirements;
• Manual Review: SADC-DFRC staff may conduct additional review for quality assurance;
• Processing Time: Certificates typically issued within 2-4 weeks of Course completion;
• Digital Certificate: Delivered via email and available for download from LMS;
• Physical Certificate: Available upon request for additional fee; shipped to provided address;
• Notification: You will be notified by email when Certificate is ready;
• Corrections: Request corrections to names or dates within 30 days of issuance.

Ensure your name in Account settings matches official identification documents before Course completion. Name change requests after Certificate issuance may incur fees.
All SADC-DFRC Certificates can be verified:
• Online Verification: Available at https://sadc-dfrc.org/verify using Certificate ID number;
• QR Code: Scan QR code on digital Certificate for instant verification;
• Third-Party Requests: Employers or institutions may verify Certificates by contacting info@sadc-dfrc.org with Certificate ID and recipient consent;
• Verification Information: Shows Certificate holder name, Course title, completion date, Certificate ID, validity status;
• Blockchain/Distributed Ledger: Some Certificates may be recorded on blockchain for enhanced verification and permanence.
Certificate Validity:
• Certificates remain valid indefinitely unless revoked per Section 10.6;
• Some professional development Certificates may have expiration dates or renewal requirements (clearly stated);
• Certificate content reflects knowledge and skills at time of Course completion;
• SADC-DFRC may update Courses over time; older Certificates remain valid but may not reflect current content.
Recognition and Accreditation:
• SADC-DFRC Certificates demonstrate completion of educational programs in development finance;
• Recognition by employers, institutions, or regulatory bodies varies and is not guaranteed by SADC-DFRC;
• Some Courses may carry professional development credits or continuing education units (CEUs) from accredited bodies – clearly indicated in Course description;• Certificates do not constitute professional licenses or regulatory certifications unless explicitly stated;
• You are responsible for determining whether Certificates meet requirements of your
employer, professional body, or educational institution.
SADC-DFRC reserves the right to revoke Certificates if:
• Academic misconduct discovered after Certificate issuance;
• Violation of Terms of Service or Academic Integrity Policy;
• Certificate obtained through fraud, misrepresentation, or deception;
• Unauthorized alteration or modification of Certificate;
• False information provided for Certificate issuance;
• Retroactive disqualification due to eligibility issues.
Revocation Process:
• Written notification to Certificate holder with reasons;
• Opportunity to respond and appeal per Academic Integrity Policy;
• Upon revocation: Certificate marked as ‘Revoked’ in verification system; Digital access
removed; You must cease using or displaying the Certificate; Third parties may be notified of revocation;
• No refund of Course fees upon revocation for misconduct.
You may use SADC-DFRC Certificates to:
• Demonstrate completion of educational programs in development finance;
• Include on resumes, CVs, and professional profiles (LinkedIn, etc.);
• Present to employers or educational institutions;
• Display in professional settings (office, website);
• Include in portfolios or professional documentation.
You may NOT:
• Alter, modify, or edit Certificate content or appearance;
• Remove or obscure SADC-DFRC branding or identification;
• Misrepresent Certificate as degree, license, or professional certification unless explicitly
stated;• Use Certificate to imply endorsement by SADC-DFRC beyond Course completion;
• Share or transfer Certificate to another person;
• Use Certificate for fraudulent or deceptive purposes;
• Continue displaying Certificate after revocation.
If you lose access to your Certificate:
• Digital Certificates can be re-downloaded from LMS at no charge;
• Physical Certificate replacements available for fee;
• Contact info@sadc-dfrc.org with Certificate ID and verification of identity;
• Replacement Certificates clearly marked as ‘Duplicate’ or ‘Replacement’;
• Name corrections may be made during replacement (verification required).
SADC-DFRC offers both free and paid Courses:
Free Courses:
• Available at no cost to all eligible users;
• May include all features or limited features compared to paid versions;
• Certificates may be free or available for fee;
• Access and features may be limited.
Paid Courses:
• Fees clearly displayed on Course description page;
• Prices stated in US Dollars (USD) or local currency;
• May include: Course materials; Instructor support; Assessments and grading; Certificate upon completion; Extended or lifetime access;
• Pricing may vary based on: Geographic location; Organizational affiliation; Student/professional status; Early bird or promotional discounts; Group or institutional rates;
• Prices subject to change; enrolled students pay price at time of enrollment.
11.2 Payment Methods
We accept the following payment methods:
• Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express);
• Debit cards;
• Bank transfers (for institutional or bulk purchases);
• Mobile money (where available in specific regions);
• Organizational purchase orders (pre-approved institutions);
• Other payment methods as displayed at checkout.
Payment processing is handled by third-party payment processors. Your payment information is subject to their privacy policies and security measures. SADC-DFRC does not store complete credit card numbers.

Failed Payments:

SADC-DFRC offers refunds under the following conditions: Full Refund (100%):
• Course cancellation by SADC-DFRC;
• Withdrawal before Course start date;

Partial Refund (50-75%):
• Withdrawal within first 14 days after Course start date;
• Must have completed less than 30% of Course content;
• Must not have downloaded Certificate (if issued early);
• Exact percentage based on time elapsed and content accessed.
No Refund:
• After 14 days from Course start date;
• After completing more than 30% of Course content;
• After the certificate has been issued;
• For violation of Terms or Academic Integrity Policy;
• Account termination for misconduct;
• Change of mind after Course completion;
• Failure to complete Course within access period;
• Dissatisfaction with Course content (except for material misrepresentation).
Requesting Refunds:
• Submit refund request to info@sadc-dfrc.org;
• Include: Full name, Course name, enrollment date, payment confirmation, reason for
refund;
• Refunds processed within 14-21 business days;
• Refunded to original payment method;
• Upon refund, Course access is immediately revoked.
SADC-DFRC may offer scholarships or financial assistance for eligible participants:
• Application required with supporting documentation;
• Eligibility criteria published for each scholarship program;
• Awards may cover full or partial Course fees;
• Scholarship recipients must maintain satisfactory progress and comply with all Terms;
• Scholarships may be revoked for misconduct or failure to meet requirements;

16.2 OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO SADC-DFRC IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR BWP 1,000 (ONE THOUSAND BOTSWANA PULA), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
16.3 SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATION OF LIABILITY FOR CERTAIN DAMAGES. IN SUCH JURISDICTIONS, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SADC-DFRC and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and partners from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from: Your violation of these Terms; Your violation of any law or third-party rights; Your User Content; Your use of the Platform or Services.
We may suspend or terminate your Account and access to the Platform at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice. Upon termination: All licenses granted to you terminate; You must cease using the Platform; We may delete your data per our retention policies; Sections on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification survive termination.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Botswana, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through good faith negotiations. If negotiations fail, disputes shall be resolved through arbitration in Gaborone, Botswana, under Botswana arbitration rules, with proceedings conducted in
English.
You consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Botswana for any matters not subject to arbitration.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on the Platform with updated ‘Last Modified’ date. Material changes will be notified via email or Platform notification. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree to modified Terms, discontinue use immediately.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any Course-specific terms, constitute the entire agreement between you and SADC-DFRC regarding the Platform and Services.
If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and remaining provisions shall remain in full force.
Failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other provision.
You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our written consent. We may assign these Terms without restriction.
We are not liable for failure to perform obligations due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, war, terrorism, pandemics, government actions, or infrastructure failures.
