Deepening Strategic Cooperation with Botswana’s Ministry of Finance
The SADC Development Finance Resource Centre (SADC-DFRC) paid a courtesy call on Dr. Sayed O. Timuno, Secretary for Macroeconomic Policy, Ministry of Finance, Botswana, reaffirming our shared commitment to strengthening collaboration in support of Botswana’s development priorities and the broader regional integration agenda.
The discussions focused on the SADC-DFRC’s regional mandate and evolving strategic priorities, including project preparation, public-private partnership (PPP) advisory, resource mobilisation, development finance capacity building, and research and policy formulation. The engagement also explored practical areas of collaboration through which the Centre can support Botswana while contributing to sustainable economic growth and regional integration across the SADC region.
The meeting marks another important step in strengthening the partnership between the SADC-DFRC and the Government of Botswana. We look forward to working more closely with the Ministry of Finance to advance sustainable development finance initiatives, accelerate infrastructure development, and unlock investment opportunities that benefit both Botswana and the region.
The SADC-DFRC delegation was led by Executive Director, Mr. Zwelibanzi Sapula, accompanied by Ms. Chazha Macheng, Executive Officer & Strategic Stakeholder Relations. The delegation expressed its sincere appreciation to Dr. Timuno and his team (Ms. Itumeleng Mareko, Director of Banking and Ms. Kaka Gaolaolwe Finance and Banking Section) for the warm reception, the insightful exchange of ideas, and the Ministry’s continued commitment to regional cooperation.
We value the strong partnership with the Ministry of Finance and look forward to translating these discussions into meaningful collaboration that advances inclusive economic growth, regional connectivity, and sustainable development across Southern Africa.
