Deepening Strategic Cooperation with Botswana’s Office of the Vice President and Ministry of Finance
SADC Development Finance Resource Centre (SADC-DFRC) was honoured to pay a courtesy call on the Vice President and Minister of Finance of the Republic of Botswana, His Honour Mr. Nkosinathi Ndaba Gaolathe.
The SADC-DFRC delegation was led by our Executive Director, Mr. Zwelibanzi Sapula, accompanied by Ms. Chazha Ludo Macheng, Executive Officer: CEO’s Office & Strategic Stakeholder Relations.
The meeting provided an important opportunity to reaffirm SADC-DFRC’s strategic mandate as the region’s centre of excellence for development finance and its commitment to advancing sustainable regional development. Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in key priority areas, including the SADC Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Network Secretariat, whose resuscitation was mandated by the SADC Committee of Ministers of Finance and Investment in 2025. The engagement also highlighted SADC-DFRC’s role in project preparation through the development of bankable investment pipelines, including pre-feasibility studies, to facilitate financing for transformative projects at both national and regional levels.
The meeting further provided an opportunity to brief His Honour on the key outcomes of the recent SADC Committee of Ministers of Finance and Investment (COMFI) meetings, held from 29 June to 4 July 2026, and to reaffirm SADC-DFRC’s unwavering commitment to supporting the implementation of the decisions and regional priorities adopted by SADC Member States.
SADC-DFRC extends its sincere appreciation to His Honour Mr. Nkosinathi Ndaba Gaolathe, Vice President and Minister of Finance, for the warm reception and constructive engagement. We also convey our gratitude to Dr. Gape Kaboyakgosi, Permanent Secretary to the Vice President, and the entire team in the Office of the Vice President and Ministry of Finance for facilitating this important engagement.
As the region continues to pursue deeper economic integration and sustainable industrialisation, strong partnerships between governments, development finance institutions and the private sector remain fundamental to mobilising investment, delivering bankable projects and improving the lives of the people of the SADC region.
