DFRC Strengthens DFI Network through Strategic Engagement in Mauritius
The SADC-DFRC CEO, Zwelibanzi Sapula, accompanied by the Learning and Development Lead, Maipelo Stroh had the honour of meeting Mr Sujit RUGHOOBUR, Ag Officer in Charge, Mr Danirow BHIWAJEE, Underwriting Manager, and Mr Devanand GUNGARAM, Head of Operations Department, from the Development Bank of Mauritius Ltd in Port Louis, Mauritius.
This engagement reflects DFRC’s commitment to strengthening its role as a regional resource centre by engaging Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), understanding their needs, and supporting their institutional growth and capacity building.
Key Areas of DiscussionThe meeting highlighted several collaboration opportunities, including:
Project Preparation– strengthening DBM’s project preparation capabilities, including potential training in Mauritius. SME Sector & Infrastructure Funding – enhancing access to finance for SMEs and exploring infrastructure funding opportunities. Energy Sector Financing – supporting early-stage renewable energy development, particularly wind power projects. Infrastructure Partnerships – support on project preparation and early-stage development. Blue Economy – Consideration to develop of a tailored programme on the blue economy development for DFIs in the region, with a view to collaboration between DFRC and DBM.
