The SADC Development Finance Resource Centre (SADC-DFRC) was honoured to attend the Genocost Commemoration and Candle Lighting Ceremony held on 2 August 2026, hosted by the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Botswana under the leadership of His Excellency Patrick Mutombo Kambila, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo Embassy in Botswana.

Representing the SADC-DFRC were Ms Chazha Macheng, Executive Officer & Strategic Stakeholder Relations, and Ms Maipelo Stroh, Head of Capacity Building and Policy Research.

The ceremony served as a solemn occasion to honour the lives lost, reflect on the importance of remembrance, and reaffirm our shared commitment to peace, human dignity, regional solidarity, and sustainable development.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo for convening this meaningful commemoration and bringing together members of the diplomatic corps, government, development partners, and the wider community in remembrance and unity.
