On 17 August 2026, the SADC Development Finance Resource Centre (SADC-DFRC) held a constructive courtesy engagement with the National Housing Enterprise (NHE) in Namibia to explore opportunities for stronger collaboration in advancing housing delivery and development finance.

The engagement, led by Mr Zwelibanzi Sapula, Executive Director of SADC-DFRC, provided an opportunity to better understand NHE’s strategic priorities and the challenges affecting the delivery of affordable housing, including access to affordable long-term finance, serviced land, infrastructure development, project preparation and institutional capacity.

The SADC-DFRC delegation comprised Mr Zwelibanzi Sapula, Ms Maipelo Stroh, Ms Chazha Macheng and Mr Thato Mafote.

Discussions explored potential areas of collaboration, including resource mobilisation, blended finance, PPP structuring, project and programme development, capacity building, ESG, governance benchmarking and peer learning across the SADC DFI network.

The discussions provided valuable insights into the opportunities and challenges facing housing development in Namibia and identified practical areas for continued collaboration.

The engagement reaffirmed the importance of leveraging regional cooperation and the collective expertise of SADC DFIs to develop practical, scalable and sustainable solutions to shared development challenges.
