The SADC Development Finance Resource Centre (SADC-DFRC) was honoured to pay a courtesy call on His Excellency Mr. Patrick Mutombo Kambila, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the Republic of Botswana.

The engagement provided an excellent platform to reflect on the evolving development finance landscape across the SADC region, with discussions focusing on both the long-established Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and the emergence of new DFIs that are strengthening national and regional development financing ecosystems.

The meeting reaffirmed the critical role of DFIs in mobilising capital, financing strategic infrastructure, supporting industrialisation, and advancing regional economic integration. It also highlighted the importance of collaboration between governments, diplomatic missions, and development finance institutions in unlocking sustainable investment opportunities across Southern Africa.

The SADC-DFRC delegation, led by Executive Director Mr. Zwelibanzi Sapula and joined by Executive Officer & Strategic Stakeholder Relations, Ms. Chazha Macheng, greatly appreciated the insightful exchange and look forward to strengthening collaboration with the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in support of the region’s shared development agenda.
