SADC DFI Executives discuss Balancing DFI Developmental Mandate with Sustainability: Page 2 of 2

Dr Banda also underscored the AfDB’s willingness to support DFIs through the Institutional Support Projects, including assistance to operationalise the SADC Regional Development Fund (RDF), through which DFIs can access financial resources.
The welcome remarks were delivered by Ms Sablonica Kauari, Chief Regional Officer on behalf of Honourable Neville Andre, Governor of Erongo region. She extended a warm welcome to the delegates, and appealed to the DFIs, as stimulants of the much-needed economic activity, to address challenges relating to unemployment among other economic development needs.
 
The forum was structured into two panel discussions. The first was on the subject of ‘DFI Sources of Funding – Sustainability vs Developmental Mandate’ and was moderated by Dr Raphael Karuaihe, Chief Executive Officer for Agribank Namibia, with four panellists from the Development Bank of Southern Africa, Norsad Capital, Botswana Development Corporation and the Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia.
The second panel focussed on ’DFI Experience – Becoming Sustainable’, and was moderated by Mr Thomas Sakala, Chief Executive Officer of the Infrastructure Development Bank of Zimbabwe with panellists from the Eswatini Development Finance Corporation, TIB Development Bank (Tanzania) and AFC Holdings (Zimbabwe).
 
The forum was attended by sixty-four (64) participants, among them, DFIs CEOs and senior executives, representatives from SADC Governments, the diplomatic corps, International Cooperating Partners (ICPs) and other development partners.
